on Production and Establishment of Micropropagated Plants

On behalf of the PEMP 2015 Organizing Committee, we are glad to inform you that the 6th International Symposium on Production and Establishment of Micropropagated Plants will be held in Sanremo, Italy from 19th to 24th April 2015.

The Symposium is hosted under the auspices of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), supported by SOI (Italian Society of Horticulture) and organized by Regional Institute of Floriculture (IRF) of Sanremo. Notification of it is available at the website: http://www.regflor.it/ISHS2015/.

The general scope of the Symposium is to go deep into the micropropagation processes and to create an interactive opportunity for people involved in research and industry.

The topics of the conference will cover the following sections:

  • Understanding in vitro growth - A section conceived to host lectures, oral and poster presentations addressed to understand the mechanisms which are underlying the regeneration systems and the in vitro growth with approaches dealing with genetic, physiological and developmental studies as well as researches for the optimization of chemical, physical and environmental factors of growth.

  • Managing micropropagation process- A specific section addressed to face the several physiological and developmental problems (e.g. contamination problems, abnormal growth, lack of juvenility, shoot-tip necrosis, fasciation, tissue proliferation, epigenetic changes and somaclonal variation) which are a real bottle-neck during the in vitro culture.

  • Rooting and establishment of micropropagated plantlets- This section continues the tradition of the Symposium series intended to be addressed to focus on acclimatization and establishment phase which can be a very difficult part of micropropagation and can result in dramatic loss of plant quality or death of plants.

  • Micropropagation industry: new niches and roles for tissue culture companies- This section has been devised to focus on micropropagation industry. We expect that industrial laboratories as well as researchers whose research is closely developed with the micropropagation industry can present themes related to scaling up, bioreactors, new niches of application e.g. root culture to produce secondary metabolites or commercial micropropagation for crops desirable for new niche markets.

The Scientific Committee includes 22 international researchers involved in the topic of the symposium. The keynote speakers and experts who have already confirmed their participation are: Edwin Herman (Agricell Report, Shrub Oak, New York, USA), Ivan Iliev (University of Forestry, Sofia, Bulgaria), Davide Neri (Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy), Sergio Ochatt (INRA-PCMV, Dijon, France), Ibrahin Rusli (Malaysian Nuclear Agency, Banji, Malaysia), Stefaan Werbrouck (University of Ghent, Dept. of Applied Bioscience, Ghent, Belgium), Giuliano Dradi (Vivai Battistini, Cesena, Italy), Gyuri Fenyvesi (Hilverdakooij BV, The Netherlands), Frank Kors (Duchefa Biochemie BV, The Netherlands), Andrea Mansuino (CIOPORA, Italy), Aurélien Masson (SoGB estate, Ivory Coast, Africa), Carolin Schneider (Institut für Pflanzenkultur - Schnega, Germany).

All participants interested in either an oral or a poster presentation will be invited to submit an abstract. The Call for abstracts started the 15 th June and the deadline for presentation is the 30 th September 2014.
