Abstract
Bulb scales of Lilium longiflorum Thunb. ‘Ester Lily’ were cultured in vitro on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing several concentrations of chitosan or BA. High frequency regeneration of shoots was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 25 mg l-1 chitosan or 5 mg l-1 BA with 5.0 shoots and 4.7 shoots, respectively. This research describes the effect of chitosan on the adventitious shoot formation of lily.

Key words: micropropagation, multiple shoots, plant regeneration, shoot organogenesis
