EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTS OF BACTERIAL APPLICATIONS
AND PRIMING TREATMENTS ON EMERGENCE CHARACTERISTICS IN
SALVIA VIRIDIS L. SEEDS

In recent years there is an increasing interest to sage species as ornamental plants. Studies showed that plant production in this genus was restricted mainly to seed germination and in vitro propagation. Seedling production and endemic species are gradually decreasing, and therefore, more studies are necessary for testing different methods and approaches of mass propagation of Salvia species. The effects of stratification, Giberellic acid (GA3), Potassium nitrate (KNO3), and biopriming and different growing environments were determined on Salvia viridis L. seedling emergence percentage and seedling quality. The highest emergence (62%) was obtained in GA3 treatment, the earliest emergence was 3.8 days and occurred after GA3 treatment. Biopriming (Bacillus, Pseudomonas) treatment was effective in the improving of seedling characteristics.
